Brian has been the sole owner of this multidisciplined practice since 1987. His interest in architecture began when he was eleven years young as he watched his father, who was an engineer with aerospace company design and draw their new home that was to be built on Lake Granbury. As the construction on the home began Brian was intrigued with how, from a two-dimensional set of plans, contractors could construct a home for his family.

As Brian’s family settled into Granbury, he and his three sisters, confirmed their faith in God at the local United Methodist Church. It was on that day that Brian felt drawn to Architecture as a vocation. With this firm knowledge that it was “his gift” given to him by God, Brian worked diligently to learn and study the built environment through the world of Architecture & Construction.

After graduating from Granbury High School, he headed to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech Universities first professional degree program within the School of Architecture, a five-year curriculum course requiring a three-year internship. Brian was able to reduce the internship to two years by working at an architectural firm while going to school. After graduation in December of 1984, he worked in Austin for a division of the same firm he had worked for in Lubbock during school and completed his final two years of internship, starting his own firm immediately after completing the requirement.

Brian’s dream throughout his time at Texas Tech University School of Architecture was to one day be able to work with his local church in the development of their campus growth. He became the project architect as an intern for the Church soon after graduating, designing the 1,000 seat Sanctuary, and creatively connecting other existing buildings. His ability to communicate with a team of professional consultants and work effectively and efficiently with professionals from interior Designers to acoustical engineers is a benefit to his clients when the project warrants. Many of these consultants have worked with Brian and have been part of his team since 1987.

On the Construction side of the business most of his sub-contractors have worked under his direction for several years. It’s this loyalty with other professionals that allow Brian and his team to stay at the top of the design-build industry.

Brian O. Gaffin Architects, started in Austin, Texas working on educational architectural projects. Soon after, Brian moved back to his hometown of Granbury to start his design-build company. The architecture and construction work in the early years consisted of working on numerous historic structures on the downtown Granbury square, and residential work in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.

It is through this confidence and commitment to his relationships that Brian is able to listen to his clients and develop a creative solution to their needs, whether it is through the architecture or construction side of the business. Brian understands that as an architect that it is his responsibility to help his clients understand the Life Cycle cost of their decisions. Energy efficiency and the incorporation of passive solar techniques is at the top of Brian’s check list for his clients.

Brian and his wife Kami have five successful, healthy, and smart adult children that love to spend time at with them at their lake house in a golfing community.
